East Turkestan has a diverse geography with grand deserts, impressive mountains, large forests and beautiful lakes. More than 43% of East Turkestan is covered by deserts and another 40% are covered by mountains. ⠀
East Turkestan borders China and Mongolia to the east, Russia to the north, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India to the west and Tibet to the south. ⠀
